A year ago, we were sure that Tjostolv and Joshua would be home in the beginning of 2010. We were wrong. If we had known in 2009 that the boys would be imprisoned for over more than one year I think it would’ve been very difficult. It’s amazing how much strength you get when you don’t know what’s coming and you just have to keep on fighting. On the other hand, it’s extremely hard not to know what’s going to happen and when.
If the boys aren’t home by May 2011, they’ll have been in prison for two whole years. To me it feels like an eternity. It’s like when you really look forward to something, time passes slower. Now, I think it’s time they come home so the days and time can go back to normal again.
When I speak with Joshua we often talk about what we’re going to do when he comes home. Walks in the mountains, amusement parks, arrange Christmas party together. I think it’s important that they have something to look forward to. Maybe that’s the way our boys survive. They look forward to a solution, and they hope and believe that they will come home eventually.
Today it’s New Years Eve. 2010 will become 2011 over night. I hope and pray that we can look back at 2011 as a joyful year. The year Joshua and Tjostolv came home from captivity in Congo, and the year time ran at normal speed again.
Finally I want to thank all of you who stood by us and supported us throughout this difficult year. We are eternally grateful and wish all of you a happy new year!
