Election campaign in Kisangani

E-mail Print PDF

I wrote in an earlier blog about the Red Cross. They have for about two years provided basic food like beans and corn flour to the Central Prison in Kisangani. Now, local authorities are supposed to take over this work. Normally it’s the families to the prisoners who have to make sure they get what they need to survive.

Last week the mayor in Kisangani came with a TV-team to do a recording. This is because of the election campaign. The work the Red Cross has done for two years were made out so that it looked like the mayor had arranged the food for the prisoners for two years. Joshua said that the broadcast was made for the State channel and for the ones who can’t verify the facts they just believe that this is a nice man who deserves to be re-elected.
