I hope someone in the delegation have experience from Africa. If not I’m afraid it will be a complete culture clash. If we have Congolese prisoners in Norwegian prisons an exchange can be suggested. At least it will be important to remind Congolese authorities the support and aid Norway provides in Congo. I hope they don’t assume that they can receive support and aid if they try to kill the citizens of the country they get the help from.
Norway has a lot to negotiate with. One thing is 100% for sure. If you come empty handed to these negotiations, with no will to compromise, well then you go home empty handed as well!It has to be very clear to the delegation that they have the lives of two young men in their hands. I think that if the delegation is clever enough they will succeed. It’s not likely that the Congolese see it as fit that the boys lie in prison down there, and then sit down at a negotiation table with Norway, Britain and the EU to negotiate for support and aid to projects and development. It’s also important for them not to lose face. It the delegation is cleaver and well prepared a solution is possible. If there is a will there’s a way.
