Tjostolv called and spoke to his mother yesterday. The situation in the prison is so miserable, and they are very tired. There are a lot more prisoners in the prison, and there is screaming and noise all night, so it’s almost impossible to sleep. They haven’t had electrics and water for long periods, which is a problem with hygiene, and very depressing.
They just sit there in the dark and heat and listen to screaming and yelling with bugs and rats. They were hoping that the seaman’s priest would come down earlier. He is supposedly coming in the end of September. It HAS to be a solution to this soon, a transfer to Kinshasa for starters. If not the message that it’s over will come. It’s clear that this can’t go on. I hope this is very clear to the delegation that is going down there to negotiate!
