It’s with despair we have to report that the Congo case is in standstill. Alida Endresen from the Foreign Ministry visited them last week, but she had no news to report. The election is soon, and many believe there will be disturbance in connection with this, maybe especially after the election when many people will disagree with the result no matter what the outcome will be.
The authorities in Congo lie constantly to the Foreign Ministry, nothing is reliable. Foreign Ministry doesn’t seem to be willing to take the means necessary to save these boys’ lives. In USA senators and former presidents managed to free their own citizens who have been imprisoned in countries like Bangladesh, North Chorea an Iran. Unfortunately we don’t have politicians of that caliber in Norway. Fortunately they’ve stayed healthy, but of course the situation is taking its toll on them. It will be more and more difficult to keep up any kind of optimism. I think it’s unbelievable that Norwegian authorities can’t even manage to get the Congolese authorities to provide clean water, food and medication. Norwegian citizens sentenced to death for espionage for Norway! They do like Pontus Pilatus, wash their hands and refers to principals!
