The clinic the boys have in the Central Prison is operating with funding from the “Inmate to Inmate” account.
Joshua tells me that the clinic is open every day, and they do a lot of tending to wounds and infections. Now he needs two boxes of disposable glows and other equipment we hope to get down to Kisangani as soon as possible.
A lot of the inmates suffer from skin diseases, but now he has come across a skin disease he can’t figure out. Last year I sent him a book called “Where there is no doctor”. It was originally written for African conditions, and it has been very useful as an encyclopedia for him. But he can’t figure out this new skin disease which has affected several of his fellow inmates. There is also an eye infection epidemic going through the prison.
When someone is so sick that they need to go to the hospital, he writes a note to the warden of the prison. He puts the note and some money in an envelope with the recommendation of admission to the hospital. It’s usually about 15-20 dollars to cover the patient’s medical bill. There is also some for the prison management. Sometimes the expenses is higher, it depends on how sick the person is.
Thanks to all of you who make it possible for the boys to help their inmates like this, with gifts from you.
