Today there is 20 months since Joshua and Tjostolv was assaulted in the jungle on their way back to Uganda. Their driver was killed, most likely by an accidental shot.
The Congolese government set as a condition for further talks about a prison transfer to Norway that the boys had to arrange for a private/civil agreement with the widow and family. The deal has been made. The documents were handed over to the Congolese authorities before Christmas. Now, we anxiously wait for the Congolese authorities’ response.
The boys had a quiet Christmas. They’ve kept a low profile. Fortunately the radio didn’t fail on Christmas Eve, and they listened to the service from Westminster Abbey in London. Whenever the radio works Joshua and Tjostolv listen to BBC in the evenings. It means a lot to them to keep up with what’s happening around the world.
