Rune Edvardsen has negotiated a deal with the widow. The deal gets the widow a house, and the family of the driver gets a house, and a business that provides a livelihood for the widow and money.
The deal is no admission of guilt from the boys, let that be very clear. The boys’ families have great sympathy with the widow, and understand her difficult situation. Unfortunately there are hundred thousands of widows like this in this country. The widows’ family has also accepted the deal and signed it. Now, eventually the Foreign Ministry and the Justice Department get it so they can negotiate further towards a transfer. An agreement of compensation to the family was a demand to get a transfer in the first place. The widow and her family also ask for clemency in the agreement. The deal is going to be paid when the boys leave the country. The way it stands now it’s up to the authorities to decide how fast this is going to happen. The boys are tired and the widow is despaired so let’s hope it’s soon. But we know from experience that things take time. This is at least the most positive thing that has happened in this case so far. Rune has done a great job with this deal. We hope this is the beginning of the end to this tragic case!
