What’s the holdup now?

E-mail Print PDF

The Foreign Minister in Congo has promised a speedy transfer to Kinshasa, and as far as I can understand a solution to the case. It’s the same for the Justice Minister. The Foreign Ministry’s State Secretary was in Kinshasa and was told the same thing by the vice Foreign Minister. As far as I know it’s all cleared with the President, it has to be when the Foreign Minister promises a speedy solution. The Governor has said that he won’t interfere with an order from the government. It’s only one problem: nothing happens!

We know that there are many lawyers in Kisangani who wants money. Its money no one has, and will never get. The government knows this. The settlement to the widow is in place, as they demanded. There is nothing more to get, financially. The widow wants desperately the case to be over, so she can get the houses. The warden is sick of having them there.

What’s the holdup? We don’t know, there has to be something. You would think it’s fairly simple to escort them from the prison to the airport, and then from Kinshasa. I think the government is tired of this case, and understand that it doesn’t exactly benefit the relationship with Norway and Britain. You would think it was possible to get a date for the transfer.

We have to believe that something will happen soon, after all the promises.
