Another delay

Several representatives from Congo’s’ government have apparently promised Norwegian authorities a speedy transfer to Kinshasa. We understood that the Justice Minister was signing an agreement about a transfer this week. This hasn’t happened.

Someone sabotages its own government; it’s not clear what their motives are. I think it has something to do with the governor in Kisangani, and his close connection with lawyer Aleuwa. It doesn’t take much imagination to guess that someone wants money. Aleuwa wants to take the houses away from the widow so he’ll get the money himself. There is no end to the greed of that man. He may very well have promised the governor money if he can squeeze out some money. He will never do it, because there is no more money. We just have to hope the government can come through for us soon.

There is no doubt that the Foreign Ministry has to push on continuously until the case is solved. It has to be frustrating for the Foreign Ministry and ambassador Vea that several promises haven’t been kept. It is quite unusual that promises from one government to another are not held.

The boys are very tired. Now, someone has opened a disco right outside the prison, with the result that there is noise and banging until 4 o’clock every night. During the day there is screaming and noise all the time.

We really hope that the Congolese authorities keep their promises soon. They have to be really tired of this as well. We believe that the Foreign Ministry keeps the pressure up and that something happens soon.
