The last couple of days, Amnesty Norway has demonstrated outside the American Embassy protesting against the execution of Troy Davis. A black American sentenced to death for murder. Amnesty International is also involved in this case.
According to the press there is no physical evidence against Davis and the murder weapon has not been found. There are unreliable witnesses. Sound familiar? It’s exactly the same as the Congo-case.
After the death sentences in Congo the families approached Amnesty Norway on mail, and got NO reply. When reporters approached Amnesty Norway about this, it was difficult to get answers. They finally got an answer from the leader that they couldn’t engage themselves in two Norwegians on death row, when there were so many other people in African prisons. Can you beat that! But a black American in the same situation where the evidence is similar, then they can engage! This is no more than a scandal! What is you agenda Amnesty Norway?
By all means, the execution of Troy Davis has to be stopped! It’s madness to execute people with evidence like this, and reprehensible to use the death penalty at all. Just as reprehensible is Amnesty Norway’s attitude in the Congo-case!
