A letter to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry from Knut Moland

E-mail Print PDF

The following letter was sent to the Foreign Ministry from Knut Moland

It is a gross negligence for the Foreign Ministry not to point this out to the court. They claim to be there to make sure the trial is fair! We know that the Foreign Ministry can’t intervene in the trial but if they can’t object to obvious abuse, what is the point about them being there? To report the abuse to the Foreign Ministry? And then do nothing?

The Foreign Ministry has not had a representative in a critical face. Tjostolv says he has been tortured and interrogated in a doped condition. It’s not easy to know what’s right and wrong in that condition, but someone should have monitored this. And what about the “meeting” with the widow? Now he will probably be sent back to the prison because the “court” claims he’s well. They will probably not receive real medical attention there either, when they think that the doctors will poison them. We got a statement from a specialist in tropical deceases, and he says that Tjostolv was very close to death when he vomited for days in his malaria-attack. His body deactivated certain parts, so he lost the feeling in his arms and legs, and had problems with his hearing and his vision etc. The Foreign Ministry claimed it was never lifethreatning!  You have to wake up soon! Tjostolv is very weakened now both physically and mentally, and the next infection could kill him. Joshua is not healthy either. I don’t have much hope that Tjostolv will live at Christmas. His mother will arrive on Friday, so I guess she gets to see him atleast.

I await your reply on your plans in the short term, and in the long run.

Knut Moland.
